Eminox secures first UNECE Regulation 49 certification

Eminox has become what it says is the first UK aftermarket manufacturer to receive UNECE Regulation 49 certification for its Euro 6 diesel particulate filter product range.

Fleet operators can now buy certified OEM-quality replacement DPFs from Eminox, without invalidating the manufacturer warranty on their vehicles.

DPFs are serviceable components, which, if not maintained correctly, can increase engine loads, causing additional fuel consumption and damaging further components.

Eminox says UNECE certification confirms that its aftermarket products meet strict regulations to reduce emissions of gaseous and particulate pollutants from compression-ignition and positive ignition engines. Certification has been awarded following months of predetermined testing at an independent European facility to ensure that the Eminox-manufactured DPFs meet Euro 6 emissions limits throughout their lifecycles.

“Eminox believes in working with its customers to provide the solutions they need to make a difference to their staff and overall businesses,“ says Neil Koston, aftermarket manager, Eminox. “A malfunctioning DPF is rightly regarded as a health and safety-critical item, just like vehicle glass, seatbelts and airbags. However, it doesn’t just impact the driver, but also the public, by reducing air quality through increased emissions. This working DPF is a vital component to every Euro 6-compliant vehicle.

“As well as having received UNECE certification, our aftermarket DPFs are Block Exemption Regulation-compliant, which means replacing a blocked or damaged DPF with an Eminox DPF will not conflict with any manufacturer’s warranty.

“Whilst DPF cleaning is an alternative option, your vehicle could be off road for up to five days. With an Eminox replacement DPF, this vehicle downtime can be reduced to just 24 hours.”
