Gavin Booth retires from Bus Users UK Scotland

Gavin Booth, Bus Users UK director for Scotland, retired at the end of March. Booth has had a long career in the industry, working for the Scottish Bus Group before becoming a freelance transport consultant, journalist and author, including being a much-valued contributor to Bus and Coach Professional.

In the 1990s he joined Caroline Cahm, founder of the National Federation of Bus Users, now Bus Users UK, and succeeded her as chair of the organisation. After stepping down from that role, he went on to establish Bus Users in Scotland in 2013.

“Having been a regular bus user my whole life, it’s been a privilege to give bus passengers a stronger voice, and ensure that operators keep passengers at the heart of everything they do,” says Booth. “Bus Users UK has genuinely made a difference, and it will continue to work to ensure that passengers remain at the top of the transport agenda.”

Claire Walters, Chief Executive of Bus Users UK, adds: “Under Gavin’s leadership, our work in Scotland has expanded, forging close links with operators, transport groups, the traffic commissioner and Transport Scotland to improve services for passengers.”
