VDL Bus & Coach premieres at IAA
VDL Bus & Coach is planning to feature three of its latest vehicles at this year’s IAA show. The new VDL Futura FHD2-106 is the latest member of the Futura family, a 10.6m variant targeting the VIP segment. The FHD2-106 has capacity for 34 passengers in luxurious seats in a face-to-face arrangement.
Also on VDL’s stand will be the world premiere of the new Citea LLE 9.9m version in a 27+2+1 configuration. This midicoach has been specifically designed for sparsely populated areas and for scheduled services with clear peak and off-peak times, according to VDL.
The final new product at IAA will be VDL’s MidBasic Electric.
In addition, VDL will be exhibiting a Futura FDD2-141, a 14.1m-long double-deck which has a newly-developed upper-deck floor made of lightweight sandwich material that has made it
possible to achieve 1.86 m of standing height on the lower deck. Another innovation is
the improvement of the driver's upward viewing angle, achieved by sloping the floor of the upper deck upwards at the windscreen. This gives a feeling of additional space and an optimal view. The FDD2-141 on show is fitted with 83 passenger seats and has space for one wheelchair.
In the external exhibition area, VDL will show a Futura FMD2-135 designed for intercity transport and on scheduled services with 59 passenger seats, along with a MidCity and a MidEuro. The MidCity is designed as a line bus with 19 seats, a maximum of 8 standing places and one wheelchair space, while the luxury specification MidEuro has 16 seats. Demo rides will be available on the Citea Electric and VDL MidBasic Electric.
