DaimlerChrysler sales increase

DaimlerChrysler sales increase Sales of Setra vehicles forms part of DaimlerChrysler's worldwide sales increase.
SALES of DaimlerChrysler buses and coaches - Mercedes-Benz, Setra and Orion - continued to rise in 2005, increasing by 10 per cent worldwide to 36,200 vehicles and chassis (2004: 32,800). This raised the company’s global market share from 16 to 17 per cent.

“We continued to strengthen our position as the world’s number one bus manufacturer last year,” says Wolfgang Diez, senior vice president of DaimlerChrysler Buses. “Our sales figures increased more rapidly than the market for the third year in a row. Last year’s sales success was due in large part to the volume of exports from our chassis competence centre in Brazil.”

In Europe Mercedes-Benz and Setra sold 9,650 vehicles, down from 9,710 in 2004, but still leaving DaimlerChrysler the market leader with a 22 per cent share.

In North America the company has sold over 1,000 Orion hybrid buses, making it the world’s leading producer of hybrid buses.
