Scarborough completes first double-decks Scarborough completes first double-decks
Following the successful introduction of production of the Alexander Dennis Enviro200 to Plaxton’s Scarborough factory in 2007, the first double-deck Enviro400s are now nearing completion. The buses are for Go-Ahead London, which runs over 200 Enviro400s, and are the first double-deck buses ever to be produced at Scarborough. The only previous double-deck vehicles to come out of the factory were Paramount 4000 coaches in the 1980s.

The Scarborough-built Enviro400s are topping up output from ADL’s main bus-building factory at Falkirk. A new paint booth has been installed at Scarborough to cope with the double-deckers and, as seen here, the company is also using electrically-powered Snorkel scissor lifts to reach high areas and improve productivity.
